Scavenger Hunt, Media Awareness 3/16/09

1. 1,200 children participated in the survey.
2. The four races that were included in the survey were, Latino's, Asian's, African American's and White's.
3. The perfect t.v. show would have an equal representation of White's, Blacks, Latino's
Asian's and any other race along with all gender's, creeds and religion.
4. Latino's enjoy watching "novellas".
5. The two types of races that were looked upon as the most favorite were Whites and
African Americans.
6. The two races shown the least on television are Asians and Latino's.
7. Character's from the minority groups are usually portrayed negatively in media.
8. White characters are usually portrayed at the positive one in media.
9. The stereotypes portrayed for white character's are that they higher eduation level,
great successful careers and are affluent in the community.
10.The stereotypical qualities of minority characters on tv are portrayed as drug users/sellers
the criminal type and any thing else negative.
11. The two races that are portrayed negatively in the news are minority groups.
12. Explain the results of the survey regarding newscasters and race.
